Listening, Laundry, & Learning to Trust

Life on Prayer Mountain Coming to a Close

Hi friends and family,

As my time in Guatemala comes to a close, I can hardly believe how much God has done in these past few months. Our days on Prayer Mountain have continued to shape us deeply, teaching us how to listen for the voice of God, intercede faithfully, and step out in bold obedience. It has been a season of learning to quiet our hearts, wait on His direction, and walk in trust.

During the week, our time on the mountain is filled with prayer, worship, and community. We have learned what it truly means to discern the voice of the Lord, to pause, to listen, and to act when He speaks. On the weekends, we come down for speaking events, intercession nights for men and women pursuing ministry, house visits in nearby villages, and worship sessions at the Antigua House of Prayer. If you would like to listen to their worship, you can find them on Spotify here. Those times in Antigua have been so refreshing. God’s presence meets us there in powerful ways through prayer and worship.

A Story from the Village: How God Spoke Through Laundry 🧺

One of the most memorable experiences from our ministry here happened during house visits with our host team, Dar para Dar (Give to Give). Before we left, they asked us to pray over a nearby village and ask God to lead us to specific homes or people He wanted us to meet.

As I prayed, the word laundry kept coming to mind. I was not sure why, but I noticed there were clothes hanging everywhere, and it must have been wash day. I did not know what it meant at the time, but I felt the Lord would use that to guide us.

When our team split into groups, another teammate shared that he kept noticing open doors throughout the village. He felt that God was saying He wanted us to literally knock on those open doors because He is the God who opens doors.

The first home we approached was one of those open doors. We knocked several times but got no answer. A few moments later, a little girl ran over and told us that her mother was down at the community laundry station and invited us to join her.

We went down and met her mother, who welcomed us warmly and taught us how to wash clothes the Guatemalan way. As we worked side by side, she shared about her family and faith and how she is raising four children and serves faithfully in the local church.

Not long after, school let out, and kids from the village began gathering around us. They started chatting, laughing, and eventually asked if we could come visit their home next. We prayed over the first family, said goodbye, and followed the children to their house.

When we arrived, the mother and grandmother greeted us with open arms. They told us they had heard about our visit from other relatives and had been praying that we would come to pray for their family too. What made this moment even more special was that we had knocked on this same door a few times before and never received an answer. But that day, the Lord opened the door, and we got to meet this beautiful family. It was such a holy moment to speak life and encouragement over them and to see how God had gone before us in every step.

Our final stop that day was a home of a family our ministry hosts already knew. They had just welcomed a new baby, Ian, but the mother had experienced complications and was still in recovery. We got to meet the baby, pray for the family’s healing, and remind them that they are seen and loved.

As we left their home, I looked up and saw a long line of laundry hanging out to dry. In that moment, I realized what God had been showing me all along: He washes us clean and makes us new. What started as a simple word in prayer became a day full of divine encounters. It was a beautiful reminder of what happens when we listen and obey, even when we do not fully understand.

What’s Next: Albania 🇦🇱

In November, our team will be heading to Albania, our next country for ministry. I am so excited for what God has in store there and how He will continue to grow and stretch us in new ways. However, leaving Guatemala is bittersweet.

We have built such deep relationships with our ministry hosts at Dar para Dar. Their team, mostly made up of men, has shown us what it means to lead with humility, faithfulness, and wholehearted devotion to God. It has been such a joy to serve alongside them and to witness the way they pour into their communities with unwavering love.

Prayer Requests

  • Transition and new beginnings: As we prepare to move to Albania, please pray for smooth travel, strength, and peace in the change.

  • Deeper discernment: Pray that our team will continue to grow in recognizing and responding to the voice of God.

  • For Guatemala: Pray for the families we visited and the pastors we met, that they would be encouraged and equipped to continue spreading the gospel.

  • For Dar para Dar: Pray that their ministry will flourish and that God will continue to use them to bring hope and healing to Guatemala.

  • Unity and joy: As we live, travel, and serve closely together, pray that our team will stay rooted in love and grace.

Final Reflections

“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.”
Ephesians 3:20 (NIV)

As this chapter in Guatemala closes, I am reminded that obedience often starts with a whisper, a simple “yes” to whatever the Lord is asking. Sometimes that looks like knocking on a stranger’s door or joining a mother at the laundry station. But in every small act of faith, He reveals His heart.

Thank you for every prayer, message, and word of encouragement along the way. Your support continues to make a difference not only in my journey but also in the lives of those we meet. I am so grateful for you and cannot wait to share all that God does next in Albania.
